ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Anne Partlon was born in East Fremantle and educated at Santa Maria College, Attadale. She was awarded the degree of Master of Arts (English) at the University of Western Australia for her thesis on three Irish Catholic writers of the Irish revolutionary period (1919-23): Daniel Corkery, Seán O’Faoláin and Frank O’Connor. She writes for the West Australian, and has contributed stories, articles and reviews to various journals, newspapers and anthologies, among them The New Federalist, Studies in Western Australian History and Irish-Australian Studies.

Currently, she is writing a biography of Sir John Waters Kirwan, editor of the Kalgoorlie Miner, for her doctoral dissertation at the Centre for Irish Studies, Murdoch University.
